Sherri Shepherd is stepping into one of her most powerful dramatic roles yet, portraying 9/11 survivor Genelle Guzman in the upcoming television film Robin Roberts Presents Angel in the Rubble: The Genelle Guzman Story.
Premiering Saturday, September 12 at 8/7c, the film brings to the screen the extraordinary true story of Guzman, the final survivor rescued from the rubble of the World Trade Center following the September 11 attacks.
Shepherd stars as Guzman, a New York City transit worker who became trapped beneath the remains of the North Tower after its collapse. Buried for an unimaginable 27 hours, Guzman found herself confronting not only the possibility of death, but also her relationship with God.
As the hours passed, she began reflecting on the life she had been living and the faith she had allowed to fade into the background. With seemingly nowhere else to turn, Guzman began to pray.
