Awards for the same. The Indie Music Channel Awards also recognized Lawrence for

Opening track ‘God Chose Me‘ is a beautiful reminder that even before we were born, God had a plan in place for us. “Before my mother knew I was there... You had a plan For my life”. Lawrence keeps his vocals going while the constant rhythm of the song plays in the background, leaving space for his message to hit home, as he repeats “’Cause God chose me”. A strong opening song from this new album.
‘As Long As You’re Near‘ steps up the instrumentation with synths and an acoustic ukulele blending to provide the perfect foundation for this short track that looks at how we can be faithful to God when He stays near to us.
The contrasting style of ‘Stand Up‘ begins with a reggae style beat and vocal, demonstrating Lawrence’s trademark diverse musical styles as he continues to push boundaries. Vocally he hits new highs, holding on to longer notes and managing to add emphasis in differing ways. ‘Help My Concentration‘ returns to Lawrence’s more traditional style, slowing down the tempo and letting his vocals set the tone, with just a simple backing track to move the song along.
Continuing to experiment with different styles, ‘Relentless‘ has an echoey vocal style backed with a start/stop rhythm that makes way for a more atmospheric sound. “Make me relentless. Release Your power to stay in the fight” he urges.
There’s a strong musicality on ‘Full Attention‘ with the synths and bleeps feeling modern and edgy. It keeps you intrigued with the intensity. Meanwhile Lawrence’s rap feels like an insight into his thought process. He describes it as “where the west coast rap elements meet a modern rap beat” and that sums it up perfectly.
‘Mighty Power‘ starts with some really gentle and beautiful piano playing, this simple backing track is the platform for an ethereal ballad that reminds the listener how much we need God’s help. “Need Your mighty power, Lord won’t You come through”. It’s another top highlight of this strong album. In a similar style, ‘Speechless‘ is a gentle song of praise, but has a soft pop sounding keyboard tune that really helps the song to soar. “Your joy is so sweet, Undeserving. It makes me feel complete. Oh I’m speechless.” It’s a stunning and emotional song that reaches new levels later in the track as the strings float into the mix.
The strings are also strongly evident in ‘Unimaginable‘, with a cinematic feel to the music as Lawrence’s voice ponders “the splendor of it all”. The tone continues into ‘Mercy Fall On Us‘, with the piano again accompanied by strings as he contemplates the Majesty of God. The vocals are timed to not hurry the song, but to let it flow, picking the right moment to show angst one moment and quite reflection the next. This changing delivery is another factor in what makes Lawrence such a compelling artist to listen to.
‘Always By My Side’ has a clock-like beat to it, with cleverly played guitars infused to build up this wall of sound that accompanies the vocals. “Just give me a sign, We need a sign... Always by... You’re always by my side”. ‘Optimistic‘ has a simple quiet hand drum beat and weaving piano tune that float effortlessly behind the vocals as the lyrics explore drawing closer to the Lord. The backing vocals are cleverly over-layed as the song gently winds along.
‘Ready‘ has a really infectious piano and string backing as Lawrence asks “Will you be ready when Jesus comes?”. It’s a song of self declaration, a longing to prepare ourselves for His return. The bass notes subtly appear to add an extra depth to the song, but as with many of these tracks, the pace and direction is firmly led by the urgency of the vocals. The album ends with the jubilant ‘Let Jesus Be Your Guide‘, which opens with an exciting atmospheric urban sound, the sort used in movies to warn you that something dramatic is about to happen. It’s such creative and moving instrumentation and would work extremely well as an instrumental track, but the vocals deliver such an important message that you wouldn’t want to miss them. “Let Jesus be your guide, He never gets lost no time. Eternal life, let Jesus be your guide. It’s yours for the taking.”
Filled with incredible music and strong vocals, this is an album that focuses on living for God in today’s world. You will feel encouraged and coached in equal measures, and left inspired and lifted by a set of songs that use top quality musicianship to back up superb vocals.
