Kelontae Gavin Goes Viral With “At the Meeting” and Returns Home to Tyscot Records
After gaining over 110 million TikTok views from an impromptu live performance, the dynamic gospel vocalist releases a studio version of the traditional quartet favorite while launching a new chapter
Gospel music powerhouse Kelontae Gavin is experiencing a major moment. The dynamic young vocalist has captured the attention of millions after an impromptu live performance of the classic quartet song “At the Meeting” unexpectedly went viral, generating more than 110 million views on TikTok over the past few months.
The overwhelming response from fans inspired Gavin and producer Desmin Gore to move quickly. Together, they went into the studio to create an official studio version of “At the Meeting,” released through Kelontae Gavin Enterprise, Inc. in partnership with Tyscot Records. The single is now available on all digital music platforms.
“At the Meeting” carries deep traditional gospel roots, with variations of the song performed by quartet groups such as The Sensational Nightingales dating back to the 1960s. For Gavin, the moment that sparked the viral wave was completely organic.
“I had just ministered and said something like, ‘I done talked too long,’” Gavin recalled. “Then, I remembered this old quartet song I heard in Charleston and I started singing it.”
Fans quickly began sharing clips of the performance across social media, and the sound took on a life of its own. Many used the snippet while showing off their Sunday church attire, helping the song become a cultural and gospel moment online.
“It’s a low country banger,” Gavin said with excitement. “People were getting dressed for church and started using the snippet that I sang live to show what they were wearing that day. I’m excited that this is the first traditional sounding single I’ve ever put out because it’s my roots and it’s my home. I’m excited about introducing this type of music into the airwaves, especially since I’m known for contemporary gospel.”
The release also marks Gavin’s return to Tyscot Records, the label where his recording career first began in 2016. As a teenager, Gavin quickly became one of gospel music’s most talked-about young voices, known for his powerful range, vocal agility, and passionate delivery. Songs such as “No Ordinary Worship” and his rendition of Rev. James Cleveland’s “Peace Be Still” helped establish him as a standout voice in the genre, earning millions of streams and a loyal fan base.
After completing a five-year recording agreement with RCA Inspiration, Gavin became a free agent and made the decision to launch his own recording label while partnering once again with Tyscot Records for new music.
“We are absolutely thrilled to partner with Kelontae as he continues to birth music that is soul stirring and life-changing,” said Tyscot Records President Bryant Scott. “Kelontae started his career at Tyscot, and it is great to have him back home.”
For Gavin, the reunion is both meaningful and timely.
“It’s an honor to be a part of such a historic and iconic company in the church community,” Gavin shared. “I don’t count it strange that within this commemorative year for Tyscot celebrating its 50th anniversary, it’s also marking the ten-year anniversary of my first signing with them and releasing ‘No Ordinary Worship.’ I am honored and excited that we could work together once again to make great kingdom music for the world to be transformed and inspired by. It’s going to be an amazing journey for years to come.”
With “At the Meeting,” Kelontae Gavin is not only honoring the sound that helped shape him, but also introducing traditional gospel to a new digital generation. What started as a spontaneous moment of ministry has now become a viral movement, a fresh release, and a powerful homecoming.
