Janessa Smith Receives Consideration for the 40th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards
Teen Gospel Prodigy Celebrated for Her Uplifting Sound and Ministry Impact
Fifteen-year-old gospel sensation Janessa Smith is honored to announce her official consideration for the 40th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards, the premier event recognizing excellence in gospel music. Her latest project, "Sounds of Joy," released in February 2025, continues to inspire listeners with its heartfelt messages and soul-stirring vocals.
Janessa's journey in gospel music began at the tender age of four. Born in the Bronx, NY, to Jamaican parents with deep musical roots, she was immersed in gospel music from an early age. Now residing in West Hempstead, NY, Janessa has been influenced by her father's work as a gospel music producer, shaping her passion and understanding of the genre.
Reflecting on this significant milestone, Janessa shared:
“I’m deeply humbled and grateful just to be considered. The Stellar Awards have been a beacon of excellence and inspiration in gospel music for decades. To even be mentioned among so many anointed artists I’ve looked up to for years is a blessing beyond words. This moment is a reminder that staying true to your calling and walking in obedience will always bear fruit in due season.”
Janessa's accolades include being the youngest recipient of a Stellar Award in 2022 at age 12, winning Youth Project of the Year. She has also been recognized with the UJAA Under 40 Achievement Award, honored by the Town of West Hempstead, and featured in various publications worldwide.
